【摘要】:Thisisafire-test-responsestandard.Thistestmethodprovidesameansofmeasuringsmokeobscurationresultingfromsubjectingessentiallyflatmaterials,products,orassemblies(includingsurfacefinishes),notexceeding25mm[1in.]inthickness,inahorizontalorientation,exposedtospecifiedlevelsofthermalirradiance,fromaconicalheater,inthepresenceofapilotflame,inasingleclosedchamber.Optionaltestingmodesexcludethepilotflame.Theprincipalfire-test-responsecharacteristicobtainedfromthistestmethodisthespecificopticaldensityofsmokefromthespecimenstested,whichisobtainedasafunctionoftime,foraperiodof10min.Anoptionalfire-test-responsecharacteristicmeasurablewiththistestmethodisthemassopticaldensity(seeAnnexA1),whichisthespecificopticaldensityofsmokedividedbythemasslostbythespecimensduringthetest.Thefire-test-responsecharacteristicsobtainedfromthistestarespecifictothespecimentested,intheformandthicknesstested,andarenotaninherentpropertyofthematerial,product,orassembly.Thistestmethoddoesnotprovideinformationonthefireperformanceofthetestspecimensunderfireconditionsotherthanthoseconditionsspecifiedinthistestmethod.Forlimitationsofthistestmethod,see5.5.UsetheSIsystemofunitsinrefereedecisions;seeIEEE/ASTMSI-10.Theinch-poundunitsgiveninbracketsareforinformationonly.Thistestmethodisusedtomeasureanddescribetheresponseofmaterials,products,orassembliestoheatandflameundercontrolledconditions,butdoesnotbyitselfincorporateallfactorsrequiredforfirehazardorfireriskassessmentofthematerials,products,orassembliesunderactualfireconditions.Firetestingofproductsandmaterialsisinherentlyhazardous,andadequatesafeguardsforpersonnelandpropertyshallbeemployedinconductingthesetests.Thistestmethodmayinvolvehazardousmaterials,operations,andequipment.Seealso6.2.1.2,Section7,and11.7.2.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
