【摘要】:Thedeterminationofsulfateandotherdissolvedconstituentsisimportantinidentifyingthesourceofbrinesproducedduringthedrillingandproductionphasesofcrudeoilornaturalgas.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheturbidimetricdeterminationofsulfateioninbrackishwater,seawater,andbrines.Ithasbeenusedsuccessfullywithsyntheticbrinegradewaters;however,itistheuser'sresponsibilitytoensurethevalidityofthistestmethodtoothermatrices.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletowatershavinganionicstrengthgreaterthan0.65mol/Landasulfateionconcentrationgreaterthan25mg/L.Aconcentrationlessthan25mg/Lsulfatecanbedeterminedbyusingastandardadditionmethod.1.3Forbrineshavinganionicstrengthoflessthan0.65mol/L,refertoTestMethodsD516.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
