【摘要】:Thistestmethodisdesignedtoindexplasticmaterialswhicharemoreorlessbiodegradablerelativetoastandardinaerobicactivated-sludge-treatmentsystems.Thistestmethodisdesignedtobeapplicabletoallplasticmaterialsthatarenotinhibitorytothebacteriapresentintheactivatedsludge.Compoundswithtoxicpropertiesmaydelayorinhibitthedegradationprocess.Thistestmethodmeasuresthedegreeandrateofaerobicbiodegradationofplasticmaterials(includingformulationadditiveswhichmaybebiodegradable)onexposuretoactivated-sludgebiomassintheconcentrationrangefrom0.1to2.5g/Lmixed-liquorvolatilesuspendedsolids(MLVSS)underlaboratoryconditions.ThehighMLVSSconcentrationrelativetootherbiodegradationtestshastheadvantageofimprovedrepeatabilityandincreasedlikelihoodofmorerapidadaptationoracclimationofthebiomass.Thistestmethodallowsforthedeterminationofbiologicalnitrificationandtheoxidationofothernon-carboncomponentsoftheplastic.Thistestmethoddoesnotpurporttodeterminewhetherornotaplasticmaterialwillpassthroughprimarytreatmenttotheaerationbasinofanactivated-sludgewastewater-treatmentplant.Thesizeordensityoftheplasticmaterialmayexcludeitfromthesecondary-treatmentstageofatreatmentfacility.ThistestmethodisequivalenttoISO14851.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyproblems,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Foraspecifichazardsstatement,seeSection8.
